Over the last few months I’ve been working on a number of ideas that would work and are unique from me. Here it is then… I have a number of things that I do in my Kemetic (and Chaos Magic practices) that I think others might find handy, as well as the stuff I do for public events already.

There is more to come and its quite exciting stuff (well, for me at least).

Have a good look around and feel free to ask questions.

Ancient Egyptian Storytelling Update

After the disappointment of postponement of the Glastonbury (and most likely the rest) of the story telling events (look out for the new dates that are coming) I do have some exciting news.

While I will still tell the many stories I already know, I’ve been spending the morning going through much of my bookshelf (still a stack to go) looking for inspiration for more stories.

Wow I have pages of interesting ideas ranging from the more obscure and unusual tales of the gods, to stories on daily life including dramatisation of real life documented court cases! I love a good murder mystery and a bit of gossip

I want to bring other aspects of ancient Egypt to life so I’ve loads of ideas to work on dramatisation of the documented rituals, festivals and religious texts to help understand what they saw in all of this, and why such beauty caught hold of me, my imagination and my life in my childhood. I’m sure many others who have a similar love for ancient know exactly what I’m saying

I think I’ve just given myself many months of hard work. It will be worth it though I see the imagery in my head already.

Back to the reading….

Ancient Egyptian Storytelling

Well, it has begun… Rehearsals for my ‘tour’ 🙂 This is both exciting and terrifying, of course I know the stories as they have been part of my life since childhood. Knowing them well enough, and being able to present them to others in a coherent form is something new.

I’ve had a lot of help from my local storytelling group the Dover Tailspinners, as well as a great boot-camp last weekend with Jason Buck. Still, I feel a long way to go but I will do it. Those of you who have seen my talk will know my manic and passionate approach to presenting, so all I can say at this stage is it will be an interesting experience.

Now I’ve got rid of the most of this nasty cold that is going around I will begin the full rehearsals to camera, to help me understand my delivery. Should any of them be OK as I get closer to the time, then I’m sure to post them up either here directly or via my YouTube channel.

To keep track of where I will be performing, please jump over to the events page for details. Thanks and I hope to see many of you there!

Call Of Cthulhu

Been a while since my last post, much happening and not much I want to really share, but I will due to it’s supreme oddness and unexpectedness…

Today is apparently the birthday of H.P. Lovecraft, a writer I have loved for many, many years. That has generally been enough. However some very strange events over the last few months are worth noting.

First was during my visit to Glastonbury back in June, a trip that turned odd and surprising in many unexpected ways mostly unconnected with this particular avenue. The event in this case was a copy of Phil Hine’s Pseudonomicon falling off the shelf into my hands while trying to get to something else. Its a slim booklet on the use of H.P Lovecraft within chaos magic. I knew I had to have it!

Then, perhaps due to the ideas within that booklet I started to see Cthulhu or at least get the impression of Lovecraft in lots of different things, most notably the kids PJs which had a nice blue gothic/steampunk like octopus on them. Looked so much HP inspired that was what I kept seeing.

Followed closely by spotting a fun looking Discordian festival which I just kept tabs on as it was far too late to consider arranging a visit this year – maybe next year. Maybe. I don’t know yet.

Finally, the last straw (at least in this stage), was my son pointing out a really cool looking octopus on a stall while at Artemis Gathering. That was on the Sunday – eight days ago. Eight. A significant number in CM.

Since then I’ve had a number of interesting Cthulhu inspired experiences which I’ve had to write down to get them out of my head.

Not sure what this means yet, but appears to be of some significance. Whether I answer the Call of Cthulhu yet is another matter. Certainly open to exploring some more at some point.
